Spice it up! Add variety to your horse's work programs with Equest Connect In-Hand!

Picture
Horses, like people, love variety so why not mix it up a little and regularly add some in-hand work to your horse's work program!

Horses are not well designed to be ridden and in-hand work is a brilliant way to exercise them without the weight of riders on their backs.

So much can be achieved through doing in-hand work that it is easy to make any session extremely beneficial physically and mentally.

Riders will feel the improvement in suppleness gained through the in-hand work flow through to their ridden work. At the same time the contact will become much softer and more consistent. The horses gain a better understanding of what is being asked of them as well as riders can see what is happening with the horse’s body and where the horse loses balance or escapes straightness, bending or engagement.

Horses really enjoy in-hand work, especially if riders are very clear and logical in their approach. Equest Connect works on little building blocks and reactions before piecing them together to make various movements, many of which riders are familiar with such as turn-on-the-forehand, turn-on-the-haunches, leg-yield, shoulder-in, travers, renvers, half-pass, pirouettes, piaffe and passage. Some really lovely, flowing floor plans can be worked through to keep your horse interested, engaged and supple. They are really beneficial workouts without taxing their backs and lower legs.
